Sonyi Elena Lopez is a Dominican-born Producer and Community Journalist from the South Bronx. Sonyi is passionate about visual storytelling, highlighting the Bronx through an authentic lens, focusing on the borough’s artists, activists, movers and shakers while amplifying collective voices of the community and discussing what truly matters and resonates with the people. Sonyi would love to contribute her producing and video documentation skills to as a Mott Haven History Keeper. Sonyi was raised in Betances Houses in Mott Haven, graduated from I.S. 162 Lola Rodriguez de Tio and later Alfred E. Smith High School, goes to Immaculate Conception Church and is a volunteer at We Stay/Nos Quedamos in Melrose.
